What is a Discovery Flight?
A Discovery Flight is an introductory flight lesson where you get to experience flying an aircraft under the guidance of an experienced instructor. It's a great way to see if flying is right for you.
How long does it take to get a Private Pilot License (PPL)?
The time it takes to earn a PPL can vary based on individual availability and progress. On average, it takes about 3 to 6 months of regular training to complete the required 40 flight hours and pass the necessary exams. The Bay Area has complex airspace, so the average training time here is approximately 70 hours.
What are the prerequisites for starting flight training?
You can start flight training at any age, you must be at least 16 years old for solo flights and 17 years old to obtain a Private Pilot License. Additionally, you need to be able to read, speak, write, and understand English and pass a medical examination.
How much does flight training cost?
The cost of flight training can vary depending on the type of license and the number of hours needed. Your expenses will include: aircraft rental, instructor fees, exam fees, medical exam fees, and materials such as books, charts, and headsets. I offer competitive rates. What kind of aircraft will I be training in?
You will be training in well-maintained aircraft that have all required documentation and inspections. The Cessna C152 and Cessna C172 are the most popular aircraft for flight training, but other options are also possible.
How often should I schedule lessons?
For the best learning experience, I recommend scheduling at least two to three lessons per week. Consistency is key to retaining knowledge and building skills.
Can I train while working a full-time job or attending school?
Yes, I offer flexible scheduling options, including evening and weekend lessons, to accommodate your busy lifestyle.
What happens if the weather is bad on my scheduled flight day?
Weather can impact flight training. If conditions are not suitable for flying, we will reschedule your lesson for a later date. Ground school sessions can also be an option on bad weather days.
